10-Pack Slingshot Bands

Bands are the only part of a slingshot that wears out on a schedule. The frame will outlast you — the latex will not. Ten sets to a pack, so a worn band is a two-minute swap instead of the end of your afternoon.

Which thickness?

Matching bands to your ammo

Band weight and ammo weight move together. If the ball feels like it is being thrown rather than driven, go thicker on the band. If the draw is heavy but the ball is not noticeably faster, go lighter on the ammo before you go heavier on the band.

If you are new, start around 8–10 lb of draw weight and move up only once your form is repeatable. Strength is not the limiting factor early on — consistency is, and a band you have to fight makes consistency impossible.

When to replace a set

• Fuzzy or frayed edges, usually near the tie points — roughly 10–15% of life left. Finish the session, then change them.
• Small tears, holes or notches — 2–10% left. Do not take another shot on these.
• White stress lines or discolouration — the latex is breaking down internally. There may be no visible tear at all. Replace anyway.
• Loss of snap — softer draw, slower return to shape. Easier to feel than to see.

Storage

UV light, mechanical fatigue and temperature cycling are what kill latex, and they work on a spare set sitting in a shed just as well as on one you are shooting. Keep spares out of direct sunlight, cool and stable, in a sealed bag. Stored properly they last considerably longer than a set left on the frame outdoors.
